Compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of land vehicles (OSAGO) is a type of insurance that is aimed at ensuring compensation for damage caused to life, health and property of victims during the operation of vehicles on the territory of Ukraine.
Insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners (OSAGO, “AUTOGRAZHDANKA”, OSGPO, OSCPV) is mandatory in order to ensure compensation for damage that may be caused to property, health, life of third parties due to an accident while traveling by transport.
According to the law, each car owner must have a compulsory insurance policy, for the absence of which a monetary penalty in the amount of 425 – 850 hryvnia is intended (from 17.11. 08).
The presence of the policy with you gives the insurance company the opportunity to compensate for losses incurred through your fault to third parties due to an accident.
The insurance amount under the Law is 50 thousand hryvnia for each damage to property, but not more than 5 for the entire period of the contract. For causing harm to life, health of third parties, the amount is 100,000 for each victim.
The cost of vehicle insurance is determined depending on its type (engine capacity, number of seats, load capacity), the territory of predominant use of the vehicle, the term of the policy.
To conclude a car insurance contract, you need to collect the following documents:
- driving license (car, motorcycle)
- power of attorney (if you are not the owner)
- vehicle registration certificate (registration certificate)
