
Civil liability insurance of gun owners is a mandatory procedure that is carried out in accordance with the established procedure and rules of compulsory civil liability insurance of Ukrainians who legitimately possess weapons for damage that may be caused in the future to a third party or its possession as a result of the use (storage, possession) of this weapon.
These rules and procedure were approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on 29. 06. 02 No. 402.
An insurance contract is required when storing, owning or using:
1) citizens of Ukraine:
- combat, rifled, army-type firearms;
- weapons manufactured to special order;
- blank and training weapons;
- small arms;
- hunting, rifled, firearms (carbines, combination guns, small-caliber rifles, etc.);
- hunting smooth-bore firearms;
- sporting firearms (pistols, rifles, revolvers, shotguns for sporting purposes, etc.);
- cold weapons (hunting knives, crossbows, bows, swords, yataghans, broadswords, Finnish knives, daggers, bayonets, daggers, bayonets);
- pneumatic weapons.
2) Citizens who legally store and use a gun owned by legal entities (except for military personnel serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other formations, employees of internal affairs agencies, the court, the prosecutor’s office and other law enforcement agencies who perform official duties).
A compulsory liability insurance contract is mandatory in cases where you register, re-register, receive a permit for the right to own a weapon and carry a departmental gun.
Property interests that comply with the Law and are related to compensation for damage to life, property, health of individuals or legal entities due to the ownership, use or storage of weapons must be insured.
