If you need to undergo an IgM antibody test (to detect the current presence of the disease) or an IgG antibody test (to determine the level of immune protection), contact our medical center. We guarantee complete safety, no queues and low prices for the ELISA test for coronavirus.
What are antibodies?
Antibodies are complex protein molecules that are produced by B-lymphocytes (plasma cells of the immune system) in response to the penetration of foreign antigens (bacteria, toxins, viruses, other pathogenic microorganisms) into the human body. Antibodies selectively bind and block antigens, after which they form immunity and then perform protective functions.
To put it more simply, these immunoglobulins act as a corresponding “shield” for the human body, and subsequently provide excellent protection against coronavirus infection.
- IgM. Produced in the first days after infection. Belong to acute phase antibodies. They can be detected not only in a person who has contracted coronavirus, but also in chronic patients or pregnant women.
- IgA. Antibodies that also appear in the acute phase of the disease, but their function is to protect the mucous membranes from the destructive effects of SARS-CoV-2. They are produced exclusively for coronavirus infection.
- IgG. These immunoglobulins are the ones that fight coronavirus. Their special feature is the “memory effect”. They start to be produced after about six months and remain in the body for a long time, often forever.
Antibody tests COVID-19
We conduct the following tests:
- Rapid test for IgM and IgG antibodies. You can donate blood from a finger or vein. At the first signs of infection.
- Analysis of IgM antibodies. Venous blood is collected. Immunoglobulins (early antibodies) begin to be produced 1-2 weeks after the onset of the disease. Indicate an acute form of the disease. It should be taken between 7 and 28 days after the onset of infection.
- IgG antibody test. Blood is taken from a vein. Immunoglobulins (late antibodies) are produced a month after infection. The test is performed to determine the presence of immunity to coronavirus infection.
When is it necessary to take a coronavirus antibody test?
There are a number of situations where it is important to take an ELISA test for coronavirus. These include:
- To obtain a certificate for traveling abroad, for visiting health resorts for treatment. The document is issued in two languages (Ukrainian, English).
- Before vaccination against coronavirus. It is performed to check for the absence of protective immunoglobulins in the blood. If antibodies are present, vaccination is postponed.
- After COVID-19 vaccination. Performed to assess the level of protective immunoglobulins after vaccination. The presence of antibodies indicates an immune response.
- To check for recurrence of the disease. After the disease, the immune system produces antibodies that circulate in the blood for a long period. They create protection against subsequent infection with coronavirus.
- To obtain information about whether a person is a carrier of SARS-CoV-2. Screening shows whether the disease has occurred or has been carried over in an asymptomatic form at the current moment.
- To obtain data on whether a person had coronavirus.
- Increased risk of infection. For people who are in constant contact with a large number of people due to their social or professional activities.
